Sam Allen, Interior Designer

Sam is a Columbus College of Art and Design graduate with a deep appreciation for nature and beauty, functional and intuitive design, and a certain artistic flair. Growing up, her creative mother worked hard to create fun, cozy, unique spaces in their home. Frequently dragging home discarded furniture and bringing it back to life!

This upbringing instilled a love for reuse, creativity, and resourcefulness. Her career began here in Columbus, where she has worked for high-end residential design companies that sharpened her eye for detail and expanded her love for a well- designed space. Her personal design taste includes vintage and thrifted pieces, quirky and unique accents, reusing and reworking existing elements in creative ways, and always incorporating bold colors and patterns!

“There is nothing more important or personal than someone’s home. Being invited in and allowed to change this space is a privilege that I do not take lightly!”

Dusty Hurst, Design Consultant

Dusty’s interest in design goes back to around the time he could pick up a pencil. His favorite books growing up were home design magazines which would inspire him to sketch out his own blueprints on just about any writable surface he could find. This passion led to many remodeling and design projects as a hobby before starting his career as a design consultant. In addition to his passion for design, Dusty brings over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry to the team which allows him to fully understand the value and investment a remodel adds to a home.

“Being a part of the team at Scott Hall Remodeling has truly brought my career and passions full circle. It’s a great feeling to work with a team who shares the same passion and values. Helping clients achieve their dream space and add improvements to better their way of living, is beyond rewarding.”.

He’s an industrial engineer with twenty years’ experience in estimating and cost control for complex manufacturing projects, in addition to extensive CAD and space-planning skills. Prior to his engineering career, he worked in residential construction, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity’s Greenhome Project, and helped build the first fully permitted straw-bale house in the Washington DC area. His move to SHR was driven by a lifelong interest in residential design, sustainable construction, and creative re-use of space. He enjoys helping clients clearly define and prioritize their ideas, to ensure that their completed project exceeds expectations.

“I’ve built my career on identifying that “one extra question” that helps clients clarify what they really hope to accomplish, and it’s a great feeling to help people find a solution that works even better than they might have originally envisioned. I’m honored to be associated with the creativity and craftsmanship of the people Scott and Bryn have brought together in this company.”

Patty Steele, Director of Operations

patty

Her father was a carpenter and her mother was a new-home sales consultant so her first memories are of side-job Saturday mornings building things out of scrap wood or helping make selections for model homes. While after college she planned to be a teacher, the construction industry pulled her back in. Her focus has been on kitchen and bath design and she was lucky enough to find amazing mentors that helped her learn the ins and outs of the renovation process so she can help guide clients through the entirety of their projects.

“Being able to work with a company like Scott Hall Remodeling is truly a gift. The whole team loves what they do and it really shows in how much they value creating a great experience for their clients. From design to production to installation, everyone at Scott Hall Remodeling plays an integral role and you can see from the results how proud they are of the work they do.”
